Just take a moment...

E - So here are two people just sitting for a moment next to one another on a park bench. Yes, they are in the Tuillieres Gardens but how is that any different than a moment in the park down the street from your house? How long has it been since you sat next to someone on a park bench and felt their arm rub against yours? How long has it been since you sat close enough to someone to feel their presence and hear their story? Take a moment to sit close and listen... this is the moment that you have, there is nothing more than this moment whether with the one you love, a friend, a child or a new acquaintance. Each of us has the power to make it happen, just ask someone to sit with you. It is free, freeing and a moment of beauty.

I do remember this moment and so many other. Parisians are not afraid to be close! I miss sitting at a cafe NEXT to my companion. It was a great sense to be seated so close - to have intimate conversation, the closeness by nature allows this, and watch the world go by. While you sit side by side - you are in your own space but yet you are physically facing outward, almost creating a sense of privacy - because you speak closely and not yell across a table. Are we afraid of such intimacy here? That silly Date Night movie mentions this - the couple scoffs at the couples who share the same side of the booth. I agree M - cozy up.

To Dream, To Remember, To Live!

As we flew home from Paris, we enjoy the best French life has to offer! First class Air France; an unexpected luxury! Here on the tray - a glass of Cotes de Rhone and Pastis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastis). Not to be forgotten, the most sinful, decadent macaron ever had! Larger than any we had seen before, chocolate "cookie" with a burnt caramel filling. Did we mention that the handsome flight staff of Air France extended the indulgence to a second?! Yes, I know, too much at one time - but following that tearful, long taxi ride to Charles De Gaulle (the only taxi ride one takes in Paris, always walk or use the Metro!) - you want to hold onto everything that is Parisian!

This blog is for everyone who loves Paris, dreams of going, or has been, and is seeking a Parisian moment in their everyday life. We will remember those moments and re-capture them here at home, maybe you too can enjoy a Parisian moment through this.

A bientôt, (goodbye for now)

This was one of the saddest yet most beautiful days for me. While we were in Paris I learned so much about the world, about myself, about friendship and love and... I hated to leave but everyone conspired to make the leaving so beautiful. There was nothing not to love, every moment seemed to be watched over to ensure that we would always have this special moment to look back on; dragging the suitcases down the circular stairwell, the crazy taxi ride, handing my Pastis over at customs only to have it returned to me on the plane! Nothing can replace the look on our boys' faces when we walked through the gates - they seemed as surprised as we were that we returned! But return we did and we brought Paris with us...M
